Geomancer is a dynamic turn-based strategy game where players adjust the battlefield to their own advantage. The game often got compared to a modern version of chess. Players take turns to move and attack, once all units of a team are destroyed or if a unit reaches the enemy base the game will end. Every hexagonal tile in the game can be risen or lowered by attacking it, allowing players to create their own routes or defences depending on their strategy.
I was the team lead of the project and was managing a team of programmers, artists and designers, making sure that everyone had a task and delivered good work. It was my responsibility that we actually finished the game so I made sure that the scope remained small which worked out very well. The game was simple and we had a quick prototype which we could iterate on. Whenever I didn't need to check other people's work I would work together with the other designers to balance, tweak and test the game. We did a lot of paper prototyping to test out new units, level sizes, number of turns or even new mechanics and winning conditions. The supervisors even liked my work as a producer so much that they decided to give me the award for 'Best Production'.
